When you buy from my Small Business,
KH does a little happy dance.
KH Designs was founded in 2017 while I was still working full-time in the corporate world. Like many people, I was searching for better work–life balance and something that truly inspired me. When I discovered resin art, I quickly realised I had found my passion.
Creativity has always been a big part of my life. Before starting KH Designs, I had a background in fashion design and hairdressing—two industries that allowed me to express my creative side. Resin art became another exciting outlet where I could experiment with colour, design and texture to create unique handmade pieces.
In 2018, KH Designs expanded by opening a small store at Vend Marketplace in Virginia. Shortly after, another space was opened at The Handmade Expo in Strathpine. These locations gave me the opportunity to connect directly with customers and share my resin creations with a wider community.
Through engaging with customers at both locations, I noticed many people were curious about how resin art was created and were interested in learning the process themselves. This inspired me to introduce resin art workshops, giving clients the opportunity to experience the creative process and create their own unique pieces.
Workshops quickly became a key part of KH Designs. One of the most rewarding aspects of my business is witnessing the creative journey during these sessions. Many people who attend are complete beginners, and one of my favourite moments is seeing their confidence grow throughout the workshop. By the end, they leave with a piece they are proud of and a memorable creative experience. It’s incredibly special to see many clients return to attend multiple workshops because they enjoy the experience so much.
In February 2021, KH Designs reached another exciting milestone with the opening of the KH Designs Studio & Gift Shop in Brendale. This dedicated space was created to bring creativity to life through resin art, workshops and a curated range of unique handmade pieces.
In 2024, I made one of the toughest decisions for KH Designs and chose not to renew the lease on the Studio & Gift Shop. While this was a difficult decision, it also gave me the opportunity to step back and reflect on the future of the business. My husband and I then decided to relocate and embrace a sea change and we now proudly call Burrum Heads home. After taking 18 months away from the business, I’m excited to reconnect with my passion and bring the love of resin art back to life on the Fraser Coast.
I’m looking forward to this next chapter for KH Designs and continuing to share my creativity and passion for resin art with others.
